Yes Sir I can Boogie!
I have been teaching Dance classes (first in London and then in Bath) since I graduated from Laban Centre for dance, London, back in the 1990s. I have worked with youth groups, older people, people with learning disabilities, those with dementia, children with physical disabilities and have loved them all.
Hot flush disco was born out of frustration and love. Frustration of not going out dancing and love of shaking my tail feather. I hit menopause and felt that I became invisible, I still felt too young to curl up and hide away (although I sometimes felt like doing that).
I talked to friends about how they felt. "I miss the joy of dancing and laughing with my friends in a dark room" "I boogie in the kitchen but its not the same" "I'm too old to go to clubs, everyone there is the same age as my kids" "I don't like the music they play" That was how Hot Flush Disco was born from a clear need to boogie and have fun. Now its your turn to dance, laugh, sing and feel joyous on the dance floor. Come and join the party, try it for yourself, you will not regret it. Paula x |
FAQ's
What should I wear?
Ideally head to toe glitter and glam but if you can't manage that then whatever you are comfy dancing in, trainers are advisable to give you stability and maybe layers so you can strip off when it gets steamy on the dance floor.
Should I bring anything?
some water, after all we are HOT women. a mat or towel (something comfy to lie on) for the relaxation at the end.
What if I can't dance?
It's not about doing it right- its about having fun! The taught sections are very simple and its so dark no-one can see you anyway
Am I too old/young/past the menopause?
No! This is a womens only class but age or hormonal state is not important
